Jan. 19, 2012 –
The Children’s Museum of Tacoma celebrates the power of play, and now they have a beautiful new space for you and your kids to enjoy. An 8,000 square foot, bright and cheery space right on Pacific Avenue. Just having celebrated their Grand Opening on January 14, the museum is a great “new” place to explore.
With five new play centers, there’s a lot to do. Play in water, create a masterpiece in the art studio, or soar to the moon on the Voyager, what the News Tribune calls a 15-foot-tall metal construction climbing toy that can be whatever you imagine. And pretend princesses, forest animals, dragons and knights can tromp through the play Woods. Take a break for coffee at the full service coffee bar, have a healthy snack, or eat your home packed lunch after a busy day of play in the Museum at the Play Café.
There are weekly programs, too. Wee Ones Weekly is a thematic and musical program just for preschoolers and their adults every Friday (and Mondays for members). Art Sparks are creative, artistic activities for you and the kids every Saturday from 9:30am – 11:00am beginning January 28.
You can receive discounts, support the Pay As You Will admission program, and get in a little extra play each week by becoming a member. Membership packages vary; check them out online at www.playtacoma.org.
The museum is open Wednesday – Sunday: 10:00am – 5:00pm, and is closed on Tuesdays.
Members-Only hours are : Monday 10:00am – 5:00pm, and Friday and Saturday 9:00am – 10:00am.
The Children’s Museum of Tacoma offers Pay As You Will admission. Pay what you can during your visit to help us ensure that every child gets a chance to play.
