25 Days Countdown 12.20.11

Welcome to the 25 days countdown! Everyone here at the Museum is so excited to open the new Museum on January 14! Until then, we plan to keep very busy each day preparing the new Museum for all of our little visitors, and counting down the days with you using the 25 Days Countdown activity.

Day 1 asks us to count to 25 in Spanish. I asked my friends Juan and Merleni, who both speak Spanish, to help me out. Here is what they taught me….

1 uno (oo-no), 2 dos (dose), 3 tres (trace), 4 cuatro (kwat-ro), 5 cinco (sink-o), 6 seis (saze), 7 siete (see-yet-eh), 8 ocho (och-o), 9 nueve (new-eh-veh), 10 diez (dee-ace), 11 once (ohn-say), 12 doce (dos-say), 13 trece (treh-seh), 14 catorce (ca-TOR-say), 15 quince (KEEN-say), 16 dieciséis (dee-AY-see-saze), 17 diecisiete (dee-AY-see-see-AY-tay ), 18 dieciocho (dee-AY-see-och-o), 19 diecinueve (dee-AY-see-new-EH-veh), 20 veinte (Veh-een-tee), 21 veintiuno (Veh-een-tee-oo-no), 22 veintidós (Veh-een-tee-DOS), 23 veintitrés (Veh-een-tee-TRACE), 24 veinticuatro (Veh-een-tee-KWAT-ro), 25 veinticinco (Veh-een-tee-SINK-o).

This is also a really neat website, because you can hear how each number is pronounced.

Tip- if you are listening to the numbers being pronounced, turn down your Christmas music so you can hear them!

Best,
     Brenda

Flashlight Scavenger Hunt

Flashlight Scavenger Hunt!

Last night was the longest night of the year. That means that it gets dark early! We went on a flashlight scavenger hunt at our house. I picked out ten items to hide and hunt for: a large metal spoon; the doggy’s pink blanket; a stapler; my green striped socks; a Clementine from the fruit bowl; our new 2012 calendar (with January 14 circled!); my favorite ornament from the tree; a stuffed turtle; the mailbox keys; and a postcard from the Museum about membership.

Did you go on a scavenger hunt? If so, what did you hunt for?
